普騰今日終於證實市場較早前的傳聞，普騰將引進中國吉利汽車的SUV暢銷車《吉利博越》GeelyBoyue，將之修改為適合大馬、泰國、新加坡公路使用的右手駕駛汽車，同時易名為ProtonBayu，第一次進軍SUV休旅車市場。

所謂SUV，就是越野運動休旅車（SUV, Sport UtilityVehicle），即是傳統運動型多用途車的後繼版，仍採用以卡車為基礎的設計，使用高剛性大樑式底盤和越野性的強化懸吊系統及四輪驅動，擁有強大的越野與拖曳能力。

中國吉利汽車是在收購了瑞典的歐洲名牌房車VOLVO之後，引用VOLVO的歐洲先進技術開發了GeelyBoyue越野運動休旅車。Proton只是將它從左邊駕駛（Left HandDrive）改成右邊駕駛，前後車燈裝飾稍作修飾，然後換個名稱，就成了普騰的最新車款啦。

這種抄襲改裝車款本來就是普騰最拿手的絕活。不過，由於基本的機件裝配並沒有改換，仍然是歐洲頂級技術支援，估計這款從GeelyBoyue改名為Proton Bayu的SUV新車，會受到大馬愛車人士青睞。

而按照中國的車價標準，這款ProtonBayu的售價相信不會超過10萬令吉，與日本及韓國的SUV車系相比，會有價格的競爭優勢。

一般估計，Proton Bayu將會趕在今年底推出市場。大家拭目以待。

Proton Bayu – a Geely-based SUV design byMIMOS

Last week, national research and development centre forinformation and communication technology MIMOS revealed a teaser sketch of a new SUV called the Proton Bayu. Thedesign, penned by the agency』s head of industrial design, SaharudinBusri, has now been fleshed out with two further renderings.

The Geely Boyue provides the foundation for theBayu, but elements have been given a suitable tweak to distinguishthe new creation. We finally get to see the vehicle』s fascia, andthe front end offers a very different take to that proposed by another rendering we ran last month.

The Bayu』s face presents a bolder outlook, with more angularlines at work in the upper section. Large headlamps frame a grilledesign complete with a double louvre bar reminiscent of thatseen on Mercedes-AMG 45 series offerings. The lowerhalf continues the overtones, a small aperture lower grille andlarge skid plate providing suitable aggression.

As intimated in the outline sketch, plenty of metallic elementspresent on the Bayu, and the large L-shaped chrome trim that startsfrom the beltline and sweeps up the C-pillar is even more strikingin the new sketches.

Similar contrast points can be found on the front bumper, lowerside flanks and rear end, where there』s even a lower garnish stripto be found on the tailgate. It also dresses up the upper windowtrim, which flows across the rear spoiler to unify both side trimsas a single entity.

New two-piece tail lights can be found, and the rear valencedesign follows on that outlined by the initial sketch, though therear diffuser now goes for an metallic outline look compared to thefully metallic presentation of the early rendering. Turbine-designfive-spoke alloy wheels complete the look of the Bayu。

The designs created by MIMOS are meant to showcaseits expertise in automotive design – the agency, whichpreviously only designed products for its own projects, is offeringits design consultancy services to other companies.
